Traumatized beyond belief

My 13 year old son Joesph is terminally ill with CHD. He has a defribulator. Recently he was bullied by 2 kids here in our trailer park. A 12 year old girl held him and a 6 year old boy hit him under his defribulator. Their parents have teamed up since I filed a police report saying that my son was at fault. He has been in conjestive heart failure till our recent trip to Duke. He's so worried now after being shocked 7 times that he no longer acts like a normal kid. Bullying needs to be stopped!

I am Tired!!

My name is Ashley I have a 6yr old daughter that is in 1st grade.  My daughter comes home everyday crying, wakes up crying because she does not want to go to school because she is being bullied.  I had asked what they are doing to her.  They pull her hair call her names, fat, ugly, ewww look at her clothes (you get the idea).  I walked into the school to have a chat with her teacher, her teacher talked to the student and to my daughter and said she would keep an eye on things.  Well the next day the same thing happened my daughter kicked cried and screamed not to go to school she said it got worse this time the other student spit on her the previous day at recess. I marched back into that school and talked to the dean of students told him what was going on.  He mentioned how he is always in the 1st grade classes and he never witnesses anything, he said he would talk to my daughter and check into things.  Well i got that call from him and he said well there is nothing going on, the aids on the play ground are not seeing no signs.  Yeah right thats why my daughter came home from school crying and said mom you know what the aid and one of the teachers said i need to stop tattling.  Well I knew then everyone out there knew what was going on.  Every kid deserves to go to school feeling safe and not feeling harmed or dangered at any level.   As parents we need to show our kids that all of this hatred in the world for one another is not okay and never will be ok.  We work together none of these school shootings or suicides will happen.

Being punished for being bullied.

I'm a 16 year old female, I'm taller then most girls my age and I'm into things guys are into. When I started getting bullied it was in the 6th grade, I thought these people were my friends. We did everything together and had plenty of fun. They messages me and started asking questions that I didn't want to answer and they wouldn't leave me alone. The questions they were asking were "are you over weight?" "Are you ever gonna stop growing ?" And so on.... When school ended and summer started up everything was good no harsh comments or rude messages, I had a great summer. Now 7th grade started, made new friends and had a great start to the year till I started liking a boy, my friend also liked him so when I told her she flipped and started swearing at me calling me a "cunt, bitch. Whore, slut" and so on.. It got so bad to the point where she was telling me to kill meyself, and over a BOY! I switched schools hoping for a fresh start but I never got that fresh start. I walked threw the halls at lunch and at class change alone, people would see me alone and find it the perfect time to physically hurt me. I started cutting and tried several times to kill meyself. It happened all threw out grades 6-9th. I am now in high school. I've turned to smoking and doing drugs to help cope with the bullies, but I was arrested for procession of marijuana. I've also have had issues at home with my out bursts and swearing. My parents are scared to leave me alone with my younger sisters or even alone. I have random room searches to see if I have any drugs or anything I could harm myself with. I can't go out without fearing out or getting really paranoid that people are talking crap. I'm insecure about myself and I am afraid to show my face in public. I no longer play the sports I love because of the scars I am hiding. I am home schooled to protect myself and others safety. I've become a monster and its a punishment that should be given to the bully not the victim. I am 7 months clean of any drug or alcohol, I'm seeing people to help with the depression and anger and I'm now being let back into school cause I'm no longer a threat to the people around me. I only wish the bully knew what they did to me. I'm in my 11th year of high school and I'm on the Honor roll I have the highest grades in all my classes and I've been accepted into college with early in rollment.

Daniel Coleman: My Story on What Happened When I Was Bullied

Hello, My name is Daniel Coleman. I am an 8th grader at Benjamin Tasker Middle School.

Last year I was bullied for almost 6 weeks. I asked a teacher for help several times. She told me that bullying was a part of life and I needed to work it out. She threatened to put me out of the class if I asked for help again.  For 6 weeks I had headaches and stomachaches every day. My grades dropped and I was having bad thoughts about myself.

Every day kids just like me go through the same thing. They need help just like I did. With help from my mom, my awesome principal Mrs. Johnson and my counselor Mrs. Jones I started a campaign at my school to stop bullying. I decided that if I could help even one other student who is being bullied or one teacher understand the warning sign, then maybe they can each help someone else. If we could each reach out and help one person we could make a difference.

I have been told that people admire what I’m doing, that I’m a good citizen and   I should be proud of myself. Governor Hogan told me that I’m a hero.  The truth is that I am not a hero, I am just Daniel and my work is not done.  Bullying takes place in every school. Students and Teachers need our help.

Martin Luther King, Jr. said "Life's most persistent and urgent question is “what are you doing for others?" I believe that by continuing to work to stop bullying I am helping others when they need it most.

My short term goal is to bring my program next year to more schools in Bowie. My long term goal is to bring my program to every school in Bowie before I start college. I hope to inspire other students in different schools to help their friends and peers put a stop to bullying. I can’t do it alone.

I have to admit that I don't like public speaking. I don't really like having my picture taken or talking with reporters, but I have done all of these things because they are necessary to make sure that people understand that we need to Stand Up and Reach Out to help others. I put aside my fears. With my mom and step-dad's help I spoke with with Principal and Counselor as well as the PTSO at my school. I spoke at City Hall where I live to PTSO and PTA leaders from other schools as well as representatives from City Hall and the School Board. I even spoke with local reporters. Last week I spoke in front of the entire county council for Prince George's County in Maryland. I asked them to help me to start programs in other schools the way I did in mine.  I was kind of nervous when I went to talk with people, especially my County Council. I did not think they would understand or want to help, but they do!

Dr.  King also said "Our lives begin to end when we become silent about things that matter." Putting a stop to bullying matters.  I have a friend who wanted to commit suicide because of bullying.  I am glad that he was there for the assemblies I put together at my school. I am glad he heard that there is hope and help. I am glad that he is still with me as my friend today. President Theodore Roosevelt said "Knowing what's right does not mean much unless you do what’s right". By starting an anti-bullying campaign to help my friends and by finding the courage within me to ask others for help, I am doing what's right. I want to know are you doing all you can to Reach Out and Help Others?
