Seon Stands up for Anti-bullying!

Bullies aren't cool.

At Seon, we make it our business to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers on the road to school. Seon’s camera systems capture evidence of bullying on the school bus. Not only that, but cameras can deter bullying behavior from the get-go. The installation of camera systems is one step in the right direction to stop bullying on the school bus.

Seon is located in Canada. We support “Pink Shirt Day,” an annual campaign in Canada to support anti-bullying. To see how we supported the campaign last year, check out our article on Seon’s blog: Pink Shirt Day at Seon.

Seon has joined “The Bully Project,” the social action campaign inspired by the award-winning film BULLY. Stay tuned for more information on how we will be supporting this national movement!

We invite the public to support the cause and stand together as a community against bullying!

In October 2013, we held a "Bullies Aren't Cool" Coloring Contest. We had over 1,300 submissions that came from almost 50 school districts across the United States and Canada. Some school districts submitted over 280 entries! The time and dedication spent doing this for a good cause and for the children is greatly appreciated.

The decision was a tough one... but Seon has chosen an overall winner along with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each age category (5—7, 8—10, 11+).

Thank you to everyone who participated and made this Coloring Contest an overwhelming success — you've helped spread the word that Bullies Aren't Cool!

In October 2013, Seon made a promise to donate a portion of the proceeds of every school bus camera system sold between October 1st and December 31st, 2013 to anti-bullying education and awareness campaigns. Seon is pleased to announce that those proceeds amounted to a total donation of $25,000!

Seon donated $5000 of the proceeds to The Bully Project, the social action campaign that has sparked a national movement to stop bullying. The contribution will support The Bully Project’s mission to end bullying in our generation and inspire other people to start their own bully projects.

The remaining $20,000 was distributed to school districts across North America that apply and are chosen for the Seon Anti-bullying Education Grant. School Bus Transportation Directors or Managers applied for the grant by March 31, 2014 outlining their plan and specifying the amount of money needed to accomplish their anti-bullying education campaign (up to $3,000 per campaign request). In addition to the grant, winners received The Bully Project’s Educator’s DVD & Toolkits (6 for larger districts, 3 for smaller) to pass on from school to school within their district. Seon announced the winners and promoted their unique stories and ideas throughout 2014. Seon’s mission in distributing the grant money is to support different ideas and work together with the school transportation community to put a stop to bullying.

Bullies Aren't Cool — from Seon

Bullying affects everyone at each stage of life. School-aged children are most at risk with 160,000 students missing school every day due to the fear of attack or intimidation by other children (National Education Association). Bullying on the school bus is a nationwide problem:“outside of the playground, school bus bullying is the most common form of bullying among school-aged children” (www.todaysparent.com).

As a child, I remember riding the school bus home and feeling anxious when another child was being bullied. One boy was brutally teased and suffered physical abuse almost every single day for the entire school year. He got off at the same bus stop as I did, as we lived on the same street and would walk up the hill together. The quiet tears I saw rolling down his cheeks made me feel helpless. No one deserves that kind of treatment, and nothing was done to stop it.

Working at Seon has continued to increase my awareness of bullying and made me more committed to the anti-bullying cause. At Seon, we make it our business to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers on the road to school. Seon’s camera systems capture evidence of bullying on the school bus. According to the National Center for Mental Health Promotion and Youth Violence Prevention, cameras can both deter bullying behavior and provide details of incidents when they do occur. The installation of camera systems is one step in the right direction to stop bullying on the school bus.

We support The Bully Project and are starting an anti-bullying campaign to showcase in October for National Bullying Month.

  • Seon Supports Anti-bullying!

The company I work for, Seon, wants to raise awareness against bullying. As anti-bullying month is coming up in October, we would like to start an ant-bullying campaign.

We are a mobile surveillance company that provides school buses with cameras. Our products aim to deter bullying from the beginning. And if it does happen on the school bus, we hope that the video footage allows for a positive result in any event.

We would like to raise money for the cause and support the Bully Project. We also would like to raise awareness and advertise our anti-bullying support by wearing Seon anti-bullying pins.

We are just in the beginning stages at the moment, but we are sure that our campaign will be a success. We will continue to support the cause in the future, far beyond the month of October; forever!

Please give us any feedback on our idea.

    Thank you,
